“Form follows profit – is the aesthetic principle of our times.”
– Richard Rogers
While researching Jaffa for my Masters degree, I wandered across a little street and read its name. Still thinking about that name I noticed a sign after 50 meters bearing a different name. When asking the old lady sitting in the sun how does she name her street she replied: “Do you want the real name prior to 1948, the current name or just how I call it?”
Welcome to Jaffa. In Jaffa your best companion is a good question asked with curiosity, that like a magic key opens doors and unlocks stories. Stories of contrasts, absurdities and beauty that I wish to continue sharing with curious people.
Aristocracy, gentrification, splendour, multiculturalism, hipsters, avant-garde, conflicts, coexistence and cultural pioneers – are only a bit of what Jaffa has to offer. This Cross-Cultural Tour allows you to encounter extraordinarily diverse people who live, work and make Jaffa an incredible human mosaic. Crossing four distinct neighbourhoods you will walk between old and new, rich and poor, modern and traditional, Jewish, Arab, Christian and Muslim. You will hear stories of local people who’s lives are tightly interwoven by narratives and reality.
Meeting Point: Retsif ha-Aliya ha-Shniya, Tel Aviv

“We have walked through the streets of Jaffa many times, but Ilyll really opened our eyes to the amazing story of the city, in an engaging and entertaining way. We definitely recommend this enriching tour!”

“Most of the guided tours are actually boring, filled with dates and facts that you won’t remember the next day. This one I’ll keep in my memory for long – with all those interesting stories and true passion of our guide.”
